Manchester, MI Mural

In the summer of 2007 Mary was invited to be the artist in residence for Manchester’s Riverfolk Music Festival. She was asked to present a mural concept to the village council for approval. This was the first time the Manchester community took a public mural into consideration. After many meetings and presentations the mural design was approved. The design was a combination of historic sites, community festivals (like the famous Chicken Broil), summer sports and activities, and Manchester’s rich agricultural past.

The mural spans more than 80 feet of one of Manchester’s only alleys. It was drawn onto the wall free hand and painted in using various picture references. The mural is whimsical and fun, bringing color and amusement to a otherwise drab alley. It has become a destination to visit and enjoy.
